Wellington Dino de Lima, better known as Índio, is married to Ireana Alice and has a music career focused on teaching and performing trumpet. Between 2012 and 2022, he was a member of the João Pessoa Municipal Symphony Orchestra, where he led the trumpet section as the principal trumpet, under the artistic direction of Laércio Diniz, the principal conductor. Between 2019 and 2022, he was a teacher for the Ação Social pela Música do Brasil – ASM project, teaching trumpet to children and teenagers in João Pessoa, PB. He enjoys distance learning and incorporates video lessons on trumpet study with practical examples on his YouTube channel. He holds a Master’s degree in Trumpet (2019) from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), under the supervision of Professor Dr. Gláucio Xavier da Fonseca, where he defended his dissertation on the use of digital technologies in distance trumpet education. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Trumpet from UFPB, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Ayrton Benck, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music with Interpretative Practices in Trumpet, also from UFPB, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Ayrton Benck. He works in both classical and popular concert music, both orchestral and chamber music. In addition to his experience in instrumental teaching as a trumpet teacher, he also works in the field of digital technologies, developing professional activities as a recording technician, digital media producer, and audio and video production.

Born in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, he had his first contact with music in 2004 in the Paulo Guerra School’s Marching Band. He then joined the José Ladislau Pimentel Municipal School of Music in his hometown, where he later became part of the teaching staff for one year. Alongside these phases as both a student and a teacher, he also studied at several technical schools in the metropolitan region of Recife, PE, such as the Pernambuco Conservatory of Music – CPM, the Recife Center for Musical Creativity – CPCMR, and the João Pernambuco Municipal School of Art. In 2006, he played for the first time in a symphony orchestra as the third trumpet of the Virtuosi Festival Youth Symphony Orchestra. He then became a member of the Pernambuco Conservatory Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2009. He also performed as a guest, replacing colleagues and teachers, in the Recife Symphony Orchestra and the Recife Symphonic Band. In addition to performing in professional orchestras and chamber groups, he has also worked with popular music artists such as Maestro Duda, Edson Rodrigues, Maestro Spok, André Rio, among others. He currently plays in the band of Silvério Pessoa.

In 2011, he began his academic studies at the Federal University of Paraíba, where he completed his Bachelor’s, Teaching Degree, and Master’s degrees. His path is not limited to studies and work on instrumental concert music and popular music, as his academic research has always addressed issues of digital technologies and music education. At the same time, he has worked with music and visual production, recording chamber groups and symphony orchestras, both in João Pessoa, PB, and in the Greater Recife region, PE.

In 2019, he was a music producer and partial editor, alongside Professor Dr. Ayrton Benck, for the album Diálogos: Música para 2 Trompetes. That same year, a documentary was produced about this project. Both works are available on streaming platforms.

In 2022, he released a single with the Pernambuco Trumpet Group. This was his first phonographic work produced entirely by him, handling all stages of audio production (recording, editing, mastering, and release on streaming platforms). The piece, titled Trompetes Frevendo, was composed by Maestro Spok and is available on major platforms like Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music.

Other audio and video productions are in progress and will soon be available to the public. To share more information about his productions, he created a YouTube channel called Canal Audiovisual, as well as a website called AUDIOVISUAL.

Currently, Wellington lives with his wife in California, USA. He completed his studies at Azusa Pacific University in the Artist Certificate Program under the guidance of Professor David Washburn. He was the principal trumpet of the APU Symphony Orchestra for two years, is a member of LAB-A “Los Angeles Brass Alliance”, is part of the trumpet section of the California Young Artist Symphony, serves as the principal trumpet of the Westside Youth Orchestra, and is a teacher and musician for the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA) under the direction of conductor and director Charles “Chuck”.
